Our promise to you

Here in Aotearoa (New Zealand) we feel a special connection with the land we come from and a duty of care is installed in us from a young age. We believe that if you look after the land, it will look after you and our future generations

Tiaki means to care for people and place. The tiaki promise is a commitment to care for Aotearoa, for now and for future generations
Aotearoa is precious, and everyone who lives and travels here has a responsibility to look after it

By following the tiaki promise we are all making a commitment to Aotearoa, to act as guardian, protecting and preserving our kianga   (home /community)

At ASURE Christchurch Classic Motel & Apartments  we welcome all guests who visit our beautiful land to embrace and follow the tiaki New Zealand promise to guard, protect and preserve New Zealand

Ōtautahi (maori name for Christchurch) comes from the name of a pre-European settlement on the banks of the Avon river, near what is now Kilmore St, which was named after a Māori ancestor. It was popularised as the te reo name for Christchurch in the 1930s. “The ancestor from whom Ōtautahi takes its name was Tautahi, the son of [Ngāi Tahu chief] Huikai of Port Levy.”

Ōtautahi was first popularised as a name for Christchurch in the 1930s by Ngāi Tahu leader; teacher and broadcaster Te Aritaua Pītama, according to Tau.

Nau mai, haere mai Aotearoa me Ōtautahi, welcome to New Zealand and to Christchurch, our home
